#6 - Mind Your Aim

Before you go passing blame…

"is it me?"… at least thats what I try to ask myself before pointing a finger. A lot of the time, you can't control the situation but you can control how you respond and move forward. I know… how Buda zen of me.

My favorite lyric from this song is “Real strength is in restraint”. Being harmless isn't virtuous if you lack the means to inflict harm in the first place. Real strength is having the power or ability to do harm but restrain it voluntarily.

 “A good man is a very, very…

#5 - In the Blue

In The Blue…

Like lost at sea, like the proverbial “feeling blue”, like lonely cold blue water. You know, that lost wandering feeling of not exactly knowing what went wrong.

Whatever it's meaning, it hit home as I wrote it in my side room studio in Asbury Park, NJ circa 2022. After a few iterations and “final” versions, it is finally for the world to have - 4 years later.

2026 is a year of letting go of some old songs that I'd hate to see rot away on the hard drive. A good friend and veteran of the industry…

#4 - Your Own Fool

Better Late…

than never right? ‘Your Own Fool’ was released just about two weeks ago and its bringing me back to my rock roots. I forgot how powerful a back beat and an electric guitar actually are (rhyme). Throw in a little aggression and I believe they call it rock and roll or something like that…

The story behind this one allows for some aggression. I mean, if you woke up to the sound of water leaking only to find the musician (well call him “Mr. Hollywood Boulevard”) you let stay a couple days - at the…

#3 - QUIT

Well,

I've been starting at a computer for the last day and a half getting ready for this release and I must admit, playing is much more fun. Just another day in the life of an independent artist i suppose. This part - writing these blogs - is relaxing. Just stream of consciousness that allow the clutter to fizzle out. Not without tracking down a few too many red underlined spelling mistakes might I add.

‘Quit’ is out.

I've been (still am) nervous about this one. Not in a bad way, more of an excitement coated…

#2 - Great Escape

Well hello there,

This next song, Great Escape, is a tale that finds two individuals at a precarious cross road. Our narrator is open to the vulnerability new relationships bring while the antagonist has decided to flee towards the security of not getting hurt. The nature of their relation is unknown but seemingly new enough to burr the lines. Is our narrator wrong for feeling blindsided or is the situation too new to justify expressing any emotion at all? Listen to find out…

#1 - Backseat

"Back seat" (two words) is the standard noun for the rear seat in a vehicle, while "backseat" (one word) functions as an adjective describing something related to that position.

Well, the first release of the year is here. Why is Backseat first? Truth be told it was the first one to be finished. (That’s it … no over thinking here … 😅)

The day it was written was my first day attempting a fast. It was a successful 24 hour fast of just water, tea and a bit of iced black coffee (I needed the excitement). Someone…

Blog Intro

Well…

Hello from my childhood bedroom as I battle to type with my 6 month old kitten, Pepper, on my lap fighting for attention. Being back home for Christmas has proven to be a reset I wasn't aware I needed. As the new year approaches, a recentering of perspective and priorities is almost always on the menu and in my opinion best served around loved ones and a familiar environment.

This year will be a year of letting go of fear of perfectionism for me. As a result, the music vault is opening and new music…
